Jon Gregory Means, affectionately known as "Bub," was born on August 22, 1963, in Wheeling, West Virginia, and passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio. Throughout his life, Jon was a beacon of kindness and generosity, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to know him.
From a young age, Jon found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life. He had a deep love for Christmas, eagerly beginning his preparations each year as early as July. His passion for the holiday was reflected not only in the many gifts he selected with care but also in his dedication to decorating. Jon’s creativity and festive spirit earned him multiple victories in the local Christmas decoration contests, a testament to the joy and warmth he brought to the community. Alongside his holiday passions, Jon cultivated beautiful rose bushes and collected outdoor statues, finding peace and fulfillment in nurturing these living creations.
Jon’s life was defined by his unwavering devotion to others. He lived wholly for his family and loved ones, embodying a level of selflessness that touched everyone around him. Even in his final hours, Jon’s thoughts remained with those he cared for, demonstrating a kindness that was as boundless as it was genuine. His generous nature and benevolent spirit will forever be cherished and remembered by those who were privileged to share in his life.
He is survived by his loving partner, Chuck McKelvey, who stood by his side with steadfast love and support. Jon was the devoted son of Jack and Annabelle Marie (née McCroskey) Means, whose pride in their son was evident to all who knew him. He was also a dear brother to Debra Means Becker, Edith Beasley, and Sally L. Means, sharing lifelong bonds of affection and loyalty. Jon’s legacy continues through his treasured nieces and nephews: Britney Sampson, Stephanie Rogers, Bailey and Braden Mills, Melissa Kenamond, Cortni and Heidi Beasley, and Kendahl Stanley, all of whom hold fond memories of their beloved uncle.
Jon Gregory Means was, above all, the kindest and most selfless person one could know. His commitment to family, his joyful generosity, and the warmth he brought to every encounter created a legacy that will endure far beyond his years. Those who loved him mourn his loss deeply but remain grateful for the light he brought into their lives. May his memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who knew him.
