Robert D. Hart

Robert “Bob” Hart, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at OhioHealth in Mansfield, Ohio.

He was born on September 14, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Shelby High School in 1953.

Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954, serving as a jet mechanic until 1958. While stationed at Presque Isle Air Force Base in 1956, he met the love of his life, Donna Reed, and they married in 1958. The couple made their home in Shelby, Ohio, for 30 years, where Robert worked as an electrician and later retired from General Motors.

After retirement, Robert and Donna moved to New Harbor, Maine, where they enjoyed another 30 years together before returning to Shelby for their final years. He loved fishing at his summer home in Millinocket, Maine, where he spent many cherished summers.

A devoted man of faith, Robert was a long-time member of the New Harbor United Methodist Church, where he volunteered for three decades assisting with repairs, maintenance, and the food pantry.

He is survived by his three daughters: Kandy Weaver (John Weaver), Melody Hart (Winston Kaufmann), and Marylane Hart, all of Shelby, Ohio.

Grandchildren include Brandy Bright (Dusty Bright) of Ashland, Ohio; Nathan Kaufmann (Brooke Kaufmann) of Shelby; Danielle Adkins (Chad Adkins) of Shelby; Brad Dennis (Lauren Dennis) of Shelby; Dominic Weaver (Lindsay Probst) of Shelby; and Savannah Howard of Columbus, Ohio.

Great-grandchildren include Haylee Kaufmann, Gracie Dennis, Olivia Kaufmann, Harper Adkins, Baker Dennis, and Opal Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Harriett Hart, and his sister, Prudence Hogue.
